Acupuncture

Heal the Whole You

The premise of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is that life is supported by the free flow of Qi, or energy, in the body. The body has more than 80 trillion cells! Those cells talk to each other, and your mind talks to those cells.

If our energy is out of balance from grief, depression, stress, or overwork, the body shows ill effects. We experience disease, pain, and a host of other issues. TCM and acupuncture help restore the body to its natural balance by emphasizing the treatment of the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.

When my epic loss challenged my health and well-being, I was drawn to acupuncture for its holistic approach to healing. Today, as a NCCAOM board-certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and Licensed Oriental Medicine practitioner, I partner with you to co-create a holistic acupuncture and TCM treatment plan that addresses your unique needs, and can be easily incorporated into your everyday life.

Nada Hogan Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the use of sterile, thin, delicate needles placed strategically to stimulate the body into its own natural balance. This therapy has been used to effectively treat the whole person for thousands of years all over the world.

The evidence for TCM’s effectiveness was recently demonstrated in a 2015 study published in the Journal of Practical Traditional Chinese Internal Medicine, where acupuncture outperformed pharmaceutical treatment for anxiety.

I focus on areas around the head, and the elbows and knees on down to effect balance and healing all over the body. You will usually need repeated treatments to improve your health. If you have chronic pain or disease, this may be an ongoing therapy to improve your quality of life.

  • Initial visit: $120 (please arrive 15 minutes early to complete health forms)
  • Each session: $80
Nada Hogan Acupuncture Piezo

Electro-acupressure

Electro-acupressure offers milder stimulation compared to acupuncture needles, and is a good alternative for children and adults who are sensitive to needling.

Electro-acupressure uses the energy of an earth crystal in a pen-like stimulator to generate a mild electrical charge into an acupuncture point or muscle area. Japanese acupuncturists call this pen “piezo.”

Nada Hogan Acupuncture Magnets

Magnetic Therapy

To extend your treatment’s effects, or to address acute issues, we sometimes add small bead-like magnets to acupuncture points.

The magnets are attached to the skin with a small adhesive plaster, which can be easily removed. These magnets can be worn for up to a few days after treatment.

Nada Hogan Acupuncture Auricular Beads

Auricular Beads

Similar to magnetic therapy, auricular beads are placed in the ear as a form of acupressure to extend your treatment. Small metallic beads are placed on adhesive tape along the microsystem set for the ear, and are virtually unnoticeable.

Auricular beads can be worn for up to two days. To stimulate the beads, gently rub in a circular motion.

This form of therapy has many uses, but has become renowned for its success with smoking and addiction issues.

Nada Hogan Acupuncture Cupping

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient form of Chinese medicine where a therapist puts special cups on your skin to create suction that draws blood and energy to the cupped area. People use cupping to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Cupping works best when paired with acupuncture to address concerns in both the mind and the body.

  • Each session: $50
