Heartbreak to Hope: Nada Hogan to Speak at TCF
On November 19, 2019, Nada Hogan will speak at the monthly meeting for The Compassionate Friends South of the River Chapter at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley, MN.
Nada will share her story of heartbreak when she lost her daughter, Darah, to a car accident when Darah was just 18 years old.
Nada was devastated. Her life was already a mess, and she was convinced that this tragedy would end it completely.
So she was stunned when the opposite happened. Life continued to beckon her! She found herself asking, “How can this be? My precious daughter is gone, yet I am yearning to live more boldly than before!”
Stuck with Guilt
And then Nada felt guilty.
She wondered how she could laugh knowing Darah couldn’t anymore.
She worried about dishonoring Darah’s life if she found joy without Darah’s physical presence.
She was terrified of “leaving Darah behind.”
Freed by Love
It was in that dark period that Darah spoke to Nada, as clearly as if she were there in person: “Perhaps you are not leaving me behind. Rather, I am waiting for you to catch up to me.”
Nada realized that Darah’s eternal energy was still with her, and Darah was beckoning her forward!
In that moment, Nada understood that the best way to honor our loved ones is to become the best versions of ourselves … even in the face of the most difficult circumstances.
The event is finished.
